They grow up so fast
My cousin Davian has purchased the Moments Collection for her second daughter Emilia, we always include Olivia too. Recently she asked for something really special for Olivia's 2nd birthday invites- so we made her a fairy of the flowers and did dress up photos. Not to be outdone we did my famous burrito photo with Emilia and got her in the fairy wings too. Not bad for my first attempts at Anne Gedes style work and for building the backdrop I thought they turned out great.

 Petty Thieves 8/08
So Dillon, my friend who had the band ROAD, is now Petty Thieves. This title reflects their cover of Tom Petty songs. I had the opportunity to visit him perform at the AZ Center and snap some pics. They have an album due out this fall. I will keep you posted and hopefully I will get to contribute to the cover art!

Christine & Cody
I really do owe you an apology for not getting this up here sooner. But Congratulations on your wedding and baby to be. Cody I hope you get a little girl because the way to interacted with your flower girl was magical. You will be a great daddy!

Congratulations to Rudy & Amanda! I know you guys opted out of allowing me to use you on the site, but you still most certainly deserve congratulations on your beautiful and stormy snowbowl wedding.

Here is a great photograph my husband took of me getting this great sunset off of Coronado Island. Amazing how the camera is attached at the hip, similar to my son.

Playing with the self timer
I find that going places and asking random strangers to take photos leaves me frustrated and dissatisfied, so on our recent trip to San Diego I started playing with the timer. The first two were done with my camera sitting on my son's stroller, with a flip flop creating a level balance. The second at Balboa Park with the camera sitting on a drinking fountain. Pretty neat huh! I'm getting ready to order a large wall canvas print of the sunset at the beach image.

So it's no secret I'm not the best at adding to the blog, so I apologize if the updates are slow. I highly welcome feedback, suggestions, questions or comments. Email me at jacquelyn.l.phillips@gmail.com and give me a shout out.

Your site says that you are a member of WPPI and PPA, what does that mean and how does it benefit me?
WPPI is the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, this organization aids the photographic community thru continuing education, contests and an international forum that allows photographers to improve their skills and build their business.
PPA is Professional Photographers of America, by being a member of this association establishes Moments in Film Photography as a professional photography studio. Thru this organization training, seminars, forums and certification and degrees are offered. I will be enrolling in the Master of Photography program in January of 2009. Participation in these organizations is a guarantee that we take our work seriously are always learning and growing as photographers and are dedicated to creating images that you will cherish for years to come.

Yes it may be the biggest picture on here, but I'm terribly excited, so for me bigger is better! I received this in the mail on Friday. I took this photograph in June of 2007. This is the event brochure for the Tucson Botanical Garden. I am the only photographer featured in this brochure. I am so proud and plan on having many more venues and vendors show my work- the good word about Moments in Film and our work is spreading like wild fire.

What makes us different... here is a behind the scenes look at how we make the pictures as fun as we do, and how when you choose Moments in Film- you're not just getting a photographer, you're getting a team that bustles your dress, attaches boutonnieres, coordinates with your other vendors, has safety pins and other emergency goodies on hand, dance with the unpaired groomsman, fill in for the dollar dance, always keeps you looking your best and is a friend.
Many of my couples have become great friends and that makes the work so fulfilling.

Posing with butterflies
In March we had the opportunity to pose 5 dozen butterflies at Lisa & Jason's wedding. 4 dozen were placed in a net to release during the ceremony and 1 dozen were set aside for formal portraits. We had no idea how the butterflies would react so with a lot of help from the family and a lot of speed we were able to get some neat pics. Here are some Adrianna took of the whole process going down.

Check out some of our most recent rave reviews

You did a tremendous job and we truly appreciate it. You were more than a photographer you were such a good friend, I appreciate you being so calm, helpful, and efficient. You helped so much, it is more than we would ever expected.
James & Christine

Jacquelyn I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did
at the wedding. You are incredible. I saw the pictures today and they are
beautiful. Teresa and Derek are in the Bahamas with no computer so I had to
text her and tease her

Wait there's more...
Teresa called from the Bahamas and
said she went on the link and she was in Awe of how great the pictures came
out. I want you to know I will pass your name on to as many people as I can.
Thanks for all you wonderful work.
Carolyn, Mother of Teresa

Love the pics and Melanie and Lori are AWESOME!!!! They were so fun to work with and I will
recommend you guys to everyone I know who is in need of a photographer.
People have already asked and I have given them your info.
Jack & Maura

Congratulation James & Christine!
Our last wedding for the month of June, this loving couple shared a beautiful wedding with their 1 year old daughter, family and friends. From mariachis to cumbia, the dancing was amazing. I'd especially like to make mention of the bride's father who danced more than any other guest there, that man has some moves!

Congratulations Derek & Teresa!
No, the goat is not a pet, and no animals were hurt at this wedding! This ornery character was given as a "dowery" during the wedding ceremony- this whole thing was concocted as a joke brought on by a discussion of wedding traditions. In actuality, this little goat made a special appearance for the ceremony and a few photos before heading home for the night. But I am 100% certain that this is the most unusual animal I will encounter while shooting a wedding

Congratulations Jack & Maura!
This couple blended families this past weekend, although, you'd never know it looking at those good looking kids. This is one of my favorite photos that Melanie took of this couple at the Renaissance Resort in Scottsdale.

Congratulations Keith & Brooke!
I would venture to guess neither of these two were shopping for love when they met in a Fry's parking lot- but the miniature matching shopping carts at the head table were adorable and a great way for guests to learn how they met.

Congratulations Travis and Denise!
These jr high sweethearts married over the weekend. It was a elegant ceremony of gold, brown and baby blue. Absolutely appropriate for this recent Air Force Academy graduate.

Playing with available light. We were walking thru a dirt side lot at Z mansion and I loved the spotlights, so I turned off my flash and captured this image with a beautiful breeze blowing to add an element of romance to the photo. This is definitely my favorite from this wedding's formal posed photos.

An awesome alternative to flower girl baskets. Should you find yourself with flower girls who may not a. make it down the aisle or b. forget to throw petals- these flower fairy wands are a great alternative. Decorative, inexpensive and the girls can play with them after the wedding. What a neat idea!

Congratulations Robert & Crystal!
This wedding proves guys can wear pink on their wedding day and look fantastic. This beautiful couple had guests travel all the way from Canada the one freak weekend in May it rains. And somehow, everything had cleared by Sunday morning and the warm weather was creeping back up.

Congratulations TJ & Janii!
What a gorgeous venue, Adrianna & I ventured to Tucson to photograph this wedding at Z Mansion in the heart of downtown. This loving couple integrated various traditions and cultures- jumping over the broom, communion, orate prayer and musicians. With all the crazy weather we had in Phoenix that weekend it was absolutely gorgeous weather in Tucson.

Congratulations to Luke & Francis!
Melanie and Lori had the pleasure of photographing these two on their special day. From a grandiose church to red carpet at the getaway limo, this couple had exquisite details throughout their day.

Congratulations to Daniel, Jaimee and Abigail- these 3 graduated from local valley high schools 5/22/08. We had the pleasure of photographing these up and coming students and we wish them all the very best in their bright futures

Too Cool for words- we've all heard the expression, imitation is the highest form of flattery, well I found an image very similar to this while perusing other wedding photographers work. I wish I could remember where I saw it, but when I heard we were having sparklers at Justin & Brien's wedding I knew I had to try for this shot. It was the best of 3 takes and I am terribly proud of it.

Congratulations Justin & Brien
We had the opportunity to photograph this lavish and fun filled event at Troon Country Club. This couple truly put a personalized touch on every aspect of their event from all their young nieces and nephews in the wedding ceremony, to inflatable guitars at the reception and sparklers for their departure. From a beachy proposal to a beachy honeymoon these two will forever find themselves with their toes in the sand together.

Rock Star

Meet Dillon Ruggiero, he is the driving force behind the band ROAD. He also performs at weddings, which is how I met him. After checking out his website, I decided he needed photos that better reflected him. When I shared my ideas he was terribly excited to let me photograph him. And while he says he's very camera shy he had no problem allowing me to capture his inner rock star. Check out his website http://www.dillonruggiero.com

Class of 2009
We are now offering senior photo session for all 2009 high school and college graduates starting June of 2008. Check back to see what special things we are doing for seniors and to see some of our fun fabulous seniors in action.

John & Deana
Deana, you are bride Barbie and everyone couldn't quit talking about how you were the image of perfection, a magazine bride. What a fun wedding, the trolley ride, the Pointe (now the Arizona Grand), the bridal party was a hoot and taking "senior pictures" with the boys. This wedding was quite a journey for their many guests who arrived from Iowa (my apologies if this is the wrong state) many amazed at the idea people would even consider getting married in May let alone July in the Arizona heat. It was beautiful weather and a beautiful wedding.

Ada & Karl
This was Melanie's very first solo wedding- no second shooter, no having me in the background. She did a PHENOMENAL job. Once again she has surpassed my expectations and completely floored me. It's intriguing to note that this photograph was taken in a park parking lot- just proof that location doesn't always create the best photographs. It's the people and the feeling behind them.

Nick & Amanda
This couple recently exchanged vows at sunset in a gorgeous backyard ceremony in Gilbert Arizona, this photograph however was taken 3 weeks prior to the big day. This was my first "bridal session" they had recently done casual family photos, but wanted to make certain they had plenty of great formal photos of them in their bridal attire. It was an absolute honor to photograph their wedding and see Amanda's mom doing the conga- she is my yoga teacher and it was a stretch not to put that picture here- Insert groan here for horrible pun!

TOO COOL
David recently did a google search on Moments in Film Photography and look what we found
http://darinandwendy.com/sub-wedding-goodshots.html
Thank you Darin and Wendy- I hope your married life is as beautiful as your wedding was

"My business is run with humility and gratitude" I truly believe I am one lucky individual. To be invited to share in such special occasions and use my talent to record these events- I am very humbled and very blessed. These opportunities make me so grateful for all the wonderful people I have met and each of them is responsible for helping me reach my dreams.
